G7MRF's 47GHz  EQUIPMENT - TRIPOD MOUNTED

A sturdy camera tripod supports the 10 inch (25cm) diameter dish. This is has a cassegrain feed. At frequencies in the millimetre microwave bands, the need for a sturdy and stable antenna support is more important than at lower microwave frequencies since the dish beamwidths are usually very narrow. Thus even a mild breeze can cause problems if the dish heading is disturbed!

At these frequencies it is advisable to set up dish alignment on a lower band, 10GHz for example.
