AT
THE HOTEL -
REGISTRATION
AND MEETING PEOPLE
|
|
Thursday evening saw
us return to the hotel, after the surplus tour, to find the
registration table had been set up and already lots of microwavers
had checked in. On the right of this photo is Sam, G4DDK
and his XYL Shirley. They are regular attendees at Microwave
Update meetings.
In addition to program
details and a callsign sticker, each microwaver receives a copy
of the Proceedings of Microwave Update. A new edition is brought
out every year and adds to the growing library of Update Proceedings
that regular attendees at this event build up over the years.

The microwaver on the
right hand side of this photo is Doug Friend, VK4OE.
This was his first Update and, on arrival from Brisbane, Australia,
he had driven over from California especially for the event.
He drove back after the weekend was over!

No Microwave Update
would not be complete without Down
East Microwave's generous "Happy Hour", held in
a couple of adjacent hotel rooms.
Steve, N2CEI,
(a.k.a. "Mr Down East Microwave")produces a
superb range of kits for the amateur microwaver. He's there
at every Update, swapping yarns, giving talks and selling some
of his products.

One of the
main reasons for going to Update is to meet people and exchange
ideas. The two centre figures are Brian Justin, WA1ZMS
and Peter Blakeborough, G3PYB. These two are both very
keen millimetre wave operators. Brian gave a talk at Update this
year on the problems of achieving excellent stability on the highest
microwave bands. |
