MICROWAVE UPDATE
27-30 September 2001

FINAL COMMENTS .... DInner and a trip to San Francisco

The Update Convention came to an official close with an excellent banquet in the hotel on the Saturday evening. As is usual at these events there was a prize draw, with everyone getting a little something to take home. It was here we said  "au revoir" to the new and old friends we had been with for the past few days. The next morning saw us at the carpark fleamarket and then off to do some sight seeing before flying home to the UK on Tuesday morning.

Before we leave California for the UK, we just had to visit San Francisco. It was my first time there and it was certainly a fscinating place. With temperatures well above 30 degrees Celcius, we took things easy... visiting the Golden Gate Bridge of course ..

.. and the famous Fisherman's Wharf  ...

.. and finishing a great day out with a view of the sun going down behind a Pacific horizon.

We couldn't help noticing the browny-grey "smudge" along the horizon... a microwave duct of course!

Well there you have it ... a short look at Microwave Update 2001.

I hope you have found it interesting enough for you to decide to attend next year's event. In 2002 it will be held in New England, USA. Keep looking at Paul Wade's(W1GHZ) website as he will have lot to do with the organisation. It will be held in the "Fall" when New England is arguably at its most beautiful. See you there!

Meanwhile, we thank the microwavers of the 50MHz and Up Group in California, and all the other Americans we met, for their hospitality this year.
